It is with a heart full of gratitude that I avail myself of the blessed privilege of testifying to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. Since becoming interested, about thirty years ago, I have never found it necessary to resort to either drugs or doctors, although I had previously been in bondage to both. The freedom from fear, the better outlook on life, and the joy of knowing that I have something to offer my brother man for his peace and comfort, are indeed blessings for which I am very grateful.
My first healing was of sciatic rheumatism, of twelve years' standing; this was followed at various times by the overcoming of biliousness, indigestion, colds, and minor ailments, as well as the smoking habit. All were healed in much shorter time than could have been possible through materia medica.
About five years ago I was taken suddenly ill with diabetes, and although my life was despaired of, I am happy to state that I had no fear and placed my reliance entirely on God. A Christian Science practitioner treated me absently. I was confined to my bed for only three days, but during that time lost twenty-three pounds. In two weeks I was able to return to my business; and while I continued to lose flesh until I had lost sixty pounds, I was completely healed, and in about six weeks started to regain my weight. As this disease is considered incurable by the medical profession, can anyone wonder that I thank God for His blessings? It is interesting to note that neither during the illness nor since have I been compelled to refrain from eating any food I desired. My sincere hope is that this testimony may help to remove the fear from the consciousness of some who may be in bondage to this trouble and who will accept the testimony as an added proof of God's goodness — His omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience.
