Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Northumberland.

During the year a beginning was made in the matter of having extracts from our Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly published. These extracts comprise the subject, the Golden Text, a citation from the Bible, and a correlative passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The extracts indicate that Christian Science is founded on the Bible, and show the nature of our Leader's revelation; they also serve to dispel ignorance and prejudice. Already in the current period the most important morning paper in Northumberland, the Newcastle Journal, publishes each Saturday the extracts supplied; and the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, with its wide circulation, publishes an item in its church news column each week giving a quotation from our textbook with name of book and author. The Whiteley Seaside Chronicle publishes each Saturday the full Lesson-Sermon extracts supplied, and throughout the year has kindly given space for the separate weekly announcement of the subject of the Lesson-Sermon with the hours of services of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Whitley Bay.

Considerable newspaper space was devoted in November, 1929, to reports of the dedication of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Newcastle-on-Tyne, the press notices containing the history of the foundation and progress of the Christian Science church in Newcastle-on-Tyne.
