I first heard of Christian Science when fifteen years of age, but did not give it serious consideration until ten years later, when I witnessed the almost instantaneous healing of a small nephew from the effects of a serious accident.
Several small boys were lying in the shadow of a platform, on which a baby show was in progress, when the structure collapsed through the center, one large timber falling directly across my nephew's back, pinning him to the earth. His mother, who did not know of his condition, stood a little way off, declaring for the safety of the many women and children who were thrown together in the center of the platform. When her child was brought to her by an uncle who was also a student of Christian Science, he was unrecognizable. She instantly declared the truth aloud, causing the crowd to fall back, so that a quiet place was soon found and treatment in Christian Science begun. After about one hour of sleep he awoke — healed. No trace of the accident remained except blood blisters, which disappeared in a few days.
This was more wonderful to me than words can express, and proved to me, as well as to my husband, who was also a witness, that Christian Science is the truth about God and His healing and regenerating power.
