Over fourteen years ago, while living in New York City...
Over fourteen years ago, while living in New York City, I saw a wonderful healing of locomotor ataxia brought about through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Though a worker at the time in an orthodox church, I knew that Christian Science had done something no religion and no medical method of which I had ever heard could do; so I began reading Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other works. I read off and on for about two and a half years before I really began to apply Christian Science to our needs.
One day my little daughter, who was about three years old, had a very badly cankered throat and would only lie on her bed and whine. At the time I knew that our relatives were greatly opposed to Christian Science; and I did not want to call a physician. That night I talked with my husband, who had become interested in Christian Science when I had. He said that he would stay with our little daughter while I went by myself to make my own decision. I realized how much against Christian Science our relatives were, but I also realized that she was God's child, not in reality ours, and that the creator was capable of taking care of His creation; and I decided to leave her entirely to His care. As I opened the door and stepped into the hall I heard the words, "Daddy, I would like some milk." The child was completely healed, and we were both very grateful for this demonstration.
Since becoming interested in Christian Science I have laid aside glasses. Nervousness has been to a large extent destroyed, and through the overcoming of temperamental propensities the tendency to have colds has been greatly lessened. By doing daily preventive work I have experienced a great sense of protection; several times in cases of extreme danger no harm has resulted.
