Before I turned to Christian Science for healing, I had...
Before I turned to Christian Science for healing, I had "tobacco heart" so badly that I thought tobacco was killing me. For years I had not weighed over one hundred and fifteen pounds, and had reached as low as one hundred and eight pounds; which is very little for a man six feet in height. Just before I took up Christian Science I went to a place to stay overnight, but the lady did not want to keep me because she thought I had lung trouble.
A friend who saw my need suggested Christian Science, but it was a year before I could bring myself to ask for the name of a practitioner. I thought I should take treatment for a year, and that then I should have will-power enough so that I could leave off. I found, however, that will-power had nothing to do with it. After the second treatment I never used any more tobacco; the wonder of my friends is that I was cured of all desire for it.
Before I took up Christian Science I used to be ashamed of my ignorance of the Bible; I would try to study, but I could not get anything out of it. One of the things I have to be grateful for is the way I can now enjoy reading the Bible.
