I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. Some ten years ago it was presented to me by a very dear friend. At that time one of our children had been given up by four doctors, who said that she was passing on with diphtheria. But when the truth was applied by a loving Christian Science practitioner and the words were spoken, "She is God's perfect child," and "God is Love," she fell asleep for the first time in two days and nights. When she woke up about two hours later she was healed.
I was healed of a severe case of measles, and of mastoiditis which followed, by relying on God's omnipotent and ever present help.
Three years ago, while working on a drag line, our son suddenly slipped. He caught hold of a traveling cable with both hands; the cable pulled his hands into the sheave block and cut off the ends of three fingers, broke bones in both hands, and lacerated the flesh. A practitioner was called at once and the boy was taken to a doctor's office to have his hands dressed. The doctor suggested amputation at once, to remove what fingers were left, leaving just the palms and thumbs. Knowing that God does heal, and that man is perfect in His image, we refused to consent to the operation; so the doctor dressed the hands, sewing back what pieces of flesh he could. The bandages were replaced by the doctor each day for twenty-one days. No medical care was given except this. The accident occurred on a Saturday at noon, and the following Monday afternoon the hands had started to heal. In four months our son was able to help with some carpenter's work, such as driving nails. The hands healed without scars, and the bones which it was not possible to set healed straight. He is able to accomplish any work he wishes without the slightest inconvenience. For this healing and many others I am more than grateful to God, as well as to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for Christian Science.
