After I had returned home from war service, which had affected me morally more than physically, I reached the stage when my extremity became God's opportunity, with the result that I accepted the teachings of Christian Science, which I had previously rejected. From that time, when the first wonderful uplift of thought came through reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, until now, Truth has been my only physician. Many have been the proofs since then of the omnipotence and omniscience of our Father-Mother God. Among other ills, colds and influenza have been healed; and the tobacco habit, lack, sin, and unemployment have been overcome. Although some healings have been instantaneous, others have been slow, the need being sometimes for more unselfed love, gratitude, watchfulness, and purity. The need of correcting my thought, of making Christian Science practical rather than theoretical, caused me to pray for divine guidance; and the necessity of becoming more childlike became evident.
Important healings of character could be mentioned. I have been able to drop all worry and care through the admission of God's love and ability to govern all harmoniously, rejoicing in the fact of perfect expression despite any seeming evidence to the contrary. The pathway Spiritward has occasionally been darkened. To those who are experiencing this I would say, Press on! Love will most certainly deliver. Looking back on my own experiences, I have seen that very often patience has been the deciding factor.
My gratitude for Christian Science and its many activities is unspeakable. To Christ Jesus and to our dear Leader we owe a debt that can be paid only by consecration to their teachings, bringing to human consciousness the fact of God's kingdom here and now.
