The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada (First Church).

Lecturer: Ralph B. Scholfield; introduced by Andrew Brack Wilkins, who said:—

Among the first recorded words of Jesus uttered during his public ministry is the counsel, "Believe the gospel." Everyone knows that the word "gospel" means "good news;" and the good news to which Jesus referred was indicated by what he did as well as by what he said. Primarily these gave proof of a law of God which could be understood and used by mankind to save it from its distresses. Christian Science is again declaring the same good news. But it is sometimes the experience of the inquirer into Christian Science when being told about God and man's relation to God, and how a knowledge of this can be applied to human conditions in the healing of sickness, of sin, of poverty, and all other forms of discord, to believe that such news is too good to be true. Such was my experience.
