I began the study of Christian Science eighteen years...
I began the study of Christian Science eighteen years ago, and it has been my only physician during these years. I did not come into Christian Science through my own physical healing, but became interested through the healing of a brother and a sister. It appealed to me as a beautiful religion. I at once procured a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and with the aid of the Christian Science Quarterly began the study of the Lesson-Sermons. Since taking up the study of Christian Science I have had many proofs of its healing power and have witnessed many healings in my family.
I was healed of chronic appendicitis after being told by a doctor that I should have to submit to a surgical operation; and very severe attacks of biliousness have also been overcome. These disappeared through my study of Science and Health and other writings by Mrs. Eddy. About six years ago I experienced a beautiful healing with the help of practitioners. I became very weak and would often have sinking spells so that the practitioner would have to be called two or three times during the day. My sister who was with me helped me with the Lesson-Sermon every morning. When I felt these spells coming on I would call for the Bible and Science and Health. My sister would come close beside me and I would read with her as often as I could. I held firmly to these words: "God is my Life." The trouble continued for about two months, and then it began to disappear. After that I walked two miles to attend the Sunday morning services. I have been in perfect health ever since.
I became a member of The Mother Church fourteen years ago. I want to express my sincere gratitude for the periodicals, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I am also grateful for the loving help of the practitioners.
