For several years Christian Science has meant to me the...

For several years Christian Science has meant to me the fulfillment of every right desire for progress. A great sense of peace and security has come with the absolute assurance of God's care for His children, as revealed in Christian Science by our dearly loved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

The study of this truth was loved in my family many years before I felt the need of it for myself. I had seen my mother healed of sick headaches so severe that they caused physical weakness which made it necessary for her to remain in bed for several days after each experience. She was also healed of palpitation of the heart. My sister had been a semi-invalid from girlhood, and after her marriage to a physician grew weaker and was unable to care properly for her home duties. She became very much disheartened, and then, having heard of Christian Science, asked my mother to get some of the literature. She was healed while reading an article in the Christian Science Sentinel, entitled "God is Love."

Of course, I could not remain untouched by this truth, and often remarked that if I ever needed to be healed of anything I should want Christian Science help. I had always been active in both social and athletic affairs all through my school life, and when I started on my teaching career the same spirit of energetic activity animated me. I was told by the superintendent that if I kept up the pace I had started I would not be able to last out the year. It was not until near the close of the second year that a nervous breakdown seemed inevitable. I made plans to leave my work and go home, and at the same time wrote my sister for help in Christian Science. Before I had time to hear from her, I felt the healing calm of the Christ, Truth, and was able to finish my year's work. Since that time my interest in Christian Science has increased; and with the study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's works there has come some understanding of the activity of Truth and Love, which is the only real impelling and compelling force for right activity in the world. My gratitude for class teaching is unbounded.
