For six years I have been enjoying the blessings of...
For six years I have been enjoying the blessings of Christian Science, and now I wish to express my gratitude publicly. I have recognized that the Comforter has come through Christian Science, and that it brings to us the kingdom of heaven here on earth. I sincerely thank all who are so lovingly working to proclaim the truth to seekers.
After I had become dissatisfied with my former church, and was content to do nothing, some copies of The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition) were sent to me by my sister. As I did not want to hear anything more about religion I did not read them. It was not until a few weeks later, when I was asked if I had read the copies and what I thought about them, that I decided to read them and form my own opinion. In doing so I discovered that they contained nothing but what was good and true, and I felt a desire to own the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Upon reading it I immediately felt a blessing; peace entered my heart and home. I soon had an opportunity to become acquainted with a Christian Science practitioner. We asked help for a seemingly intricate lawsuit, and the truth was brought to light beautifully.
During this time our son, then four years old, was freed from coughing and from incessant stomach ache with which he had suffered since birth and for which he had been treated by various doctors, but without avail. Two years later this same disorder returned. I asked the practitioner for help, and in three absent treatments the condition was overcome. The boy was also healed of whooping cough in a very short time. He was healed of measles in two days, as I read and applied the truth as far as I understood it at the time. One day when he fell from his bicycle and came home with concussion of the brain and a swelling on his head, he was healed in a few hours by the reading of the textbook (pp. 390—397), and "the scientific statement of being" on page 468. He visited relatives the next day and no one noticed any sign of the occurrence.
