I am deeply grateful for Christian Science

I am deeply grateful for Christian Science. A great sense of joy and peace has come to me since I began studying the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. I have learned from them that God is knowable and is alwyas present. In fact, Christian Science has taught me that God is All. If there were no other blessing from the study of Christian Science than this consciousness of Him, there would be reason for the greatest thankfulness. But through this beautiful realization of Him I have been healed of physical ills also.

Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 268), "God's preparations for the sick are potions of His own qualities." With each healing which I have experienced God has enabled me to realize more of His love, a purer sense of His nearness, and a deeper understanding of Him. I have been healed of scarlet fever, tonsillitis, headaches, colds, a skin disease, influenza, and pleurisy. Many other discordant conditions have been immediately eliminated through the application of Christian Science.

Not long after commencing to study Christian Science I entered college. For no apparent reason I found that my study of Christian Science became very difficult, and the truths which before had seemed so natural and simple became confusing to me. My demonstrations were protracted. Finally I turned unreservedly to God for enlightenment. It was then revealed to me that I had been trying to study Christian Science with the methods prescribed for the study of school subjects. I had become deeply enmeshed in a sense of selfhood which believed that, independently of God, it could get enlightenment and understanding for itself. I had been believing that human intelligence unaided could acquire the truth of Christian Science. God gradually led me to see that He was the only Mind and therefore the only source of truth. Thus, if I were to have understanding I must reflect it from Him. I shall never forget the joy which came to me one evening when I commenced my study of Christian Science with the acknowledgment that I did not understand the truth, but that God knew it and that He would give it to me according to His order of unfoldment. That evening my study unfolded harmoniously and naturally; and with the vision of reality which came, a healing followed. I have always been so grateful for this healing, for it taught me to acknowledge God first before I studied, and to let Him unfold His truth. Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 258), "God's interpretation of Himself furnishes man with the only suitable or true idea of Him; and the divine definition of Deity differs essentially from the human."
