With a heart filled with gratitude I should like to relate...
With a heart filled with gratitude I should like to relate how I came into Christian Science, how I was healed through it, and what great blessings I have received. As the result of strenuous work in the country, I was suffering from an internal complaint. Several doctors who treated me said that only an operation could help me; but great fear on my part prevented me from having it performed. As I believed God had sent this affliction upon me, I tried to bear it patiently. I read in the Bible daily, but my hunger and thirst after the truth were not satisfied. Quite unexpectedly I was called upon to nurse a relative who lived some distance away. Contrary to the wish of my parents, but obeying an inward voice, at that time not yet recognized, I went; and there I found Christian Science.
When at the first service I heard the beautiful words, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," I realized that Christian Science was the truth for which I had been yearning so long, and that it would make me free, too. Soon afterwards I returned to my native village. I read a great deal in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and, as I read, I gradually began to understand the perfect man. This understanding freed me completely of my complaint. Since that time over six years have passed, and nothing similar has again been manifested. I have been privileged to experience many other blessings and healings.
For the wonderful guidance of divine Love, granting me the privilege of being a worker in the Father's vineyard, and for the blessing of class instruction, I am inexpressibly grateful. I think of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, with great reverence.
