An article in your issue of October 3 implied mistakenly that the healing efficacy of Christian Science may be considered apart from its religious element. Please let me say that there can be no such separation, for Christian Science utilizes the spiritual method of Christ Jesus, who healed sin and sickness by spiritual means alone, and who said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."

Spiritual healing was accomplished by Jesus' disciples, and continued in the Christian church for about three hundred years after the crucifixion.

Mary Baker Eddy was a devout student of the Bible, and through an enlightened spiritual understanding of its teachings she discovered Christian Science. Subsequently, she demonstrated her discovery in a truly scientific manner by healing functional and organic disease, as well as sin, by spiritual means, and presented a complete statement of Christian Science in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." By utilizing the spiritually uplifting teachings in this book, multitude have been enabled to practice Christian healing.
