Light

One very dark night a party of people were driving over a road that led through a dense wood. As the light streamed ahead, the blackness disappeared, revealing a smooth pavement. Sometimes, as they drove round abrupt curves, they could not see far before them; but the party sped confidently along at an even pace. Suddenly the lights went out and the road ahead seemed completely swallowed up in darkness. The car was immediately stopped, and with the aid of a flashlight belonging to one of the group the loose connection was found, the adjustment was made, and again the grateful travelers went on their way.

In our journey from sense to Soul, how similar are our experiences to those of the travelers! When we are "led of the Spirit" and the word is a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path, the way opens before us. Even when we cannot see far ahead we have no fear, but walk forward with confidence. We are not alarmed by the darkness or the shadows around us, for we are hearing the voice and obeying the injunction, "This is the way, walk ye in it."

At other times our path seems enveloped in darkness. Problems of supply, health, position, or various other lacks loom ahead with no discernible way out of them, no visible solution. Progress seems to stop; we are filled with fear and apprehension. In this blackness what are we to do?
