I feel as though I have put off too long the giving of this testimony of a healing received more than seventeen years ago through the application of Christian Science. This healing was of a supposedly incurable case of dropsy. I had been tapped a number of times at intervals of every two weeks. Just before having Christian Science treatment I was examined by a pension board of three prominent physicians who, I learned afterward, had said that I was entitled to a pension but would never live to draw it. They also said that the secretions of the liver had dried up, and that I had enlargement of the spleen and infection of the gall bladder. The kidneys and heart were also supposed to be in a bad condition.

All hope had been given up so far as material means were concerned when the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, came into my possession. As I read this book I realized that God had created man in His image and likeness, spiritual, perfect, and that nothing could be added to or taken from what God had done, so that right now I must be perfect; and I proceeded to put the truth into practice. Not instantaneously, but in a very short time, I was back at work. Since then I have not tasted medicine, but have depended solely upon the one great Physician, who, the Bible says, "forgiveth all thine iniquities" and "healeth all thy diseases." I am also grateful for the courage and tenacity of the practitioner who stood in the face of these seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
