In the article entitled "Back-Woods Philosophy" in the Alberta Labor News of recent date, the writer falls into a mistake which needs correction. His reference to the religion to which he takes exception as "Eddyfying" leaves no doubt that—at least in a part of his article—he is referring to Christian Science.

After supposing that he is the devil, the writer goes on to say his next step would be to "announce that there was no such thing as sin." In his attitude on this subject the writer is nearer to agreeing with what Mrs. Eddy has taught than he apparently has recognized. For instance, Mrs. Eddy writes on page 63 of "Retrospection and Introspection," "Sin is worse than sickness; but recollect that it encourages sin to say, 'There is no sin,' and leave the subject there." From this it may readily be seen that the writer has not grasped what Mrs. Eddy teaches on the subject of sin. Christian Science teaches the necessity of having one's eyes thoroughly opened to the subtle nature of sin through the understanding of God's power and presence, in order that one may overcome sin. Upon this fact rests the success of Christian Science in dealing with problems involving issues of morality.
