In your issue of the 24th inst. a clergyman makes the statement that a correspondent is "thinking of Christian Science, not of Christian prayer." The statement is misleading to your readers because Christian Science treatment is Christian prayer. This may be seen by a careful reading of the first chapter, entitled "Prayer," in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The desire of the Christian Scientist is to obey the teachings of Christ Jesus in every respect, to pray and to heal as he did.

God loves a cheerful giver. A grumbling heart takes away the beauty of a beneficent act. If you are going to show mercy, then do it with cheerfulness. Men and women in trouble are not helped by people with sour hearts or long faces. Would you lift a man up, then be joyful.
