"The cycle of good"

In an inspiring article bearing the title "Harvest," to be found in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," our Leader sets forth a timely and timeless truth. She says (p. 270), "The cycle of good obliterates the epicycle of evil." In the current conversation of the man in the street, in business circles, and in the voice of the press, are echoed and reëchoed the words "cycles of depression."

Christian Scientists have, no doubt, found it necessary to study, to understand the reason for the widespread belief of discord and lack with which the whole world at present seems to be struggling. They are convinced that nothing is more certain of fulfillment than the truth voiced by the prophet Ezekiel that God, good, "will overturn, overturn, overturn, it [the belief in the power of evil]: ... until he come whose right it is." It is clear to one student of Christian Science that in these words is to be found the solution of the present problems of business depression and social unrest. He who runs may read in that same statement the promise that the present dark material clouds have "a silver lining."

More than ever before, the error of belief in the reality and power of material things is being exposed. All manner of evil is being brought to the surface as Truth stirs the troubled waters of mortal sense. In this fermentation we can see, indeed, "the cycle of good" slowly but surely exposing and obliterating "the epicycle of evil."
