I became interested in Christian Science about thirtyeight...
I became interested in Christian Science about thirtyeight years ago, and have been slowly, but surely, working myself out of bondage ever since. I most gratefully bear testimony to many physical healings, such as the healing of sick headaches of many years' standing, of spinal trouble, and of many lesser ills. But these difficulties did not leave me quickly. First I had to correct my inner consciousness and my living. In these years I have witnessed almost all forms of sickness healed and sin corrected, either in myself or in others. Still I always had a little uneasiness as to whether I should be strong enough in Christian Science to overcome loss—loss of anything; and, harboring that thought, I have had many such experiences.
The severe test came two years ago in the parting from a dear one. Help and support came almost immediately. It was necessary for me to make a two days' train trip; and while traveling I met a lady who seemed much drawn to me and who was glad to hear of Christian Science. Just before leaving me she said: "I feel that I want to go home and take up Christian Science. If you can go to meet what you have to face with a smile, I want to know more about it." This reminded me of what our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says on page 110 of "Miscellaneous Writings": "What grander ambition is there than to yourselves what Jesus loved, and to know that your example, more than words, makes morals for mankind!"
It is my earnest desire to stand fast in the teachings of our Way-shower and our Leader.
