Enduring Thanksgiving

At this season the Christian Scientist may be weaving into a crown of thanksgiving all the strands of demonstration he can collect and recollect in his year's work. First and foremost his homage is due to God, the cause of every good effect. Provided his thought abides in God, who is the absolute and changeless cause of perfect being, his thanksgiving is enduring in character.

Jeremiah says, "Let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord." Gladness is inseparable from spiritual understanding and Godlikeness; therefore the Christian Scientist should at all times aspire to be glad with God's own reflected gladness.

Scientific thanksgiving lends the very steadfastness of God Himself to each one of whom it can be said, "He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord." Fixed trust in God's omnipotence constitutes true worship and brings to God's witness the safety and dominion which God Himself enjoys and imparts to His likeness. In short. real thanksgiving is a reflection of God.
