The article entitled "Malaria Prejudicitis," which appeared in the American Hebrew a short time ago, contains a statement regarding Christian Science which is somewhat confusing. Therefore, I should be grateful for a brief space in your publication for comment. The statement, in brief, infers that "Jewish Science ... emulates the basic formula of Christian Science."

For the sake of clarity, it should be stated that Jewish Science is founded entirely upon Judaism and its emphasis is logically upon the Judaic religion. On the other hand, Christian Science is the Christian religion and is founded upon the words and works of Christ Jesus and the lives of prophets and apostles. Concerning the establishment of this religion, Mary Baker Eddy states on page 126 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the textbook of Christian Science: "I have found nothing in ancient or in modern systems on which to found my own, except the teachings and demonstrations of our great Master and the lives of prophets and apostles. The Bible has been my only authority. I have had no other guide in 'the straight and narrow way' of Truth."

Formulas are strictly forbidden in the practice of Christian Science.
