While I did not take up the study of Christian Science...
While I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, it was not more than a week after I commenced to study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy before I experienced an instantaneous healing of constipation of the worst kind and of headaches that had given me many hours of miserable suffering. It was revealed to me that the first thing I had to do was to stop relying on material means and to look to God for help. I shall never forget the joy and peace that came to me with this healing.
Shortly after this I was instantaneously healed of enlarged tonsils while reading a Christian Science Bible Lesson. As I was reading a passage from the Bible which tells us that Jesus thanked God before Lazarus was restored, I stopped and pondered the words, and I thought to myself, Would it not be wonderful if we could thank God in advance and be sure that He always hears us, and have no doubts? As I pondered, a desire came to me to thank God as Jesus did. I closed my eyes and thanked Him for His goodness and ever-presence. As I thanked Him a wonderful peace came over me, and the desire to thank Him more increased; so that I kept on thanking God all day with tears of joy. It just seemed that I could not stop thanking Him, and I did not want to stop. I knew right there that I was healed of the enlarged tonsils, which the doctor had said would cause me a lot of trouble if they were not taken out. Instead, they became normal and have not troubled me since.
We have had many wonderful proofs of God's care in our home, and many healings. Our little boy, who is eight years old, is a picture of perfect health. For the last six years we have not used a drop of medicine in the house. I am very grateful for the understanding of Christian Science that enables us to rely on God, divine Mind, for every need.
