In the hope that it may help some other mother, I want...

In the hope that it may help some other mother, I want to tell of the healing of my six-year-old boy of diphtheria through Christian Science. He was in bed all day for only three days, and part of this time he was propped up on the pillows playing. We called a doctor, as it is the law to do so in cases of infectious diseases, and a certificate would be necessary before he could return to school. The doctor was most kind; he advised but did not insist on material methods, and took a "culture" of the throat for examination by the municipal authorities. He came only once again, two days later, and finding the child greatly improved, agreed not to return. The following day a young medical officer came to inquire if the doctor had informed me that the examination had given positive results. He ordered isolation from other children until two more "cultures" had been taken on certain days and had given negative results. He found the child up and playing happily, though he had a slight cough and a little trouble with his nose. He was most surprised to hear that no injection had been given and no material methods used, and wished to know what we had done. I told him we had applied Bible teachings. He seemed interested, but said that he would have insisted on methods which he understood, but that if the doctor in charge did not insist, he would say nothing. Some time later the medical officer returned about the "cultures," and as soon as he saw the child happy and well he said, "So this child has been healed through the Bible!" It was wonderful to hear one in his position make such a declaration, and my heart overflows with gratitude to God and to Mary Baker Eddy, as well as to the loving, faithful practitioner who gave absent treatments and loving encouragement by letter. I am most grateful also to a dear friend who was ever ready with a word of encouragement and practical advice.

A thought that helped me much was one concerning the Shunammite woman, who, leaving her son apparently dead, went to Elisha and was able to declare, "It is well." The ninety-first psalm and an article in the March, 1929, Journal also helped me very much. The latter proved to me how much we owe to the Christian Science literature.

I am also glad to express my gratitude for my almost instantaneous healing of neuralgia and a sort of influenza, and the overcoming of measles which our boy recently experienced.—(Mrs.) Marguerite Giovannelli, Genoa, Italy.
