Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication for the Year Ended September 30, 1930

There has been a definite change in the attitude of newspaper editors toward Christian Science. Editorial doors are now open to Christian Science articles and to the workers in this church which were never opened before, and some editors have even sent news gatherers to report services and lectures. More and more is the public press according to Christian Science the recognition accorded to other Christian denominations. More and more are the editors of the smaller newspapers showing their appreciation of authorized statements about this religion. These are giving yeoman service to the Cause, even as they are bringing blessing and healing to their readers everywhere.

More sermons are mentioning Christian Science in a friendly way than during recent years. Whenever kindly statements about Christian Science have been made, the Committee has made acknowledgment with appreciation and gratitude. Cordial relations have been the result.

A renowned clergyman in the state, who has on previous occasions been critical, radiocast a friendly sermon this year. A Baptist clergyman in Gloversville spoke of Christian Science as "a tremendous movement which cannot be ignored or ridiculed." A Baptist clergyman in Queens Village advised the members of his church to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for it would make them better Baptists. A clergyman near Syracuse announced a Christian Science lecture in that city, and advised the members of his congregation to attend it. An Episcopal clergyman gave the use of the auditorium of his parish house for a Christian Science lecture. The auditorium was filled.
