Successful Business Decisions

MOST business men and women will agree that success in business comes as a result of a series of right decisions. Even a superficial analysis of any successful industry or business establishment will show that each stage of progress must be preceded by clear thinking and correct reasoning. Every manufactured product must unfold in thought before it can be manifested: an automobile, a pair of shoes, a cake of soap—all must be mentally conceived before taking form as a product.

As each step is taken in a business, including manufacturing, financing, advertising, or selling, the idea or thought must always precede the activity. A business, then, is simply the outward expression of the thinking of the individuals connected with it. Therefore, it is true that all progress and success is the result of right thinking; and it is equally obvious that the only seeming limitation in a business is due to thoughts of doubt, failure, lack, entertained concerning it.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, puts these facts clearly when she says in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 392), "Your decisions will master you, whichever direction they take." How important, then, it is to learn how to allow our thinking to be properly guided. Christian Science brings to the business man who is ready to accept its teachings a basis, or rule, for right decisions. The Christian Science textbook becomes to him a "key" to the Scriptures, and he learns to apply in his thinking the truth about God and man's relation to Him, as revealed in the Bible.
