Availability of Divine Power

WITH an insistency that will not be stayed, Christian Science is telling the truth that the power of God is always available to meet the needs of mankind. The words of the sixty-second psalm are familiar to many: "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God;" but how true it is that even to-day comparatively few know how to utilize divine power. Still, to feel sure "that power belongeth unto God" is to be in possession of that which may readily be extended to an understanding of how to use this power when the need arises—how, indeed, to make constant use of it.

To be ever available, obviously God must be omnipresent and ever present. But how are we to regard God in order to see Him as omnipresent? By knowing Him as infinite Mind or Spirit. When we think of God as infinite Mind, matter is seen to be unreal; and we should then have no difficulty in contemplating Him as everywhere present. Frequently, the knowledge of Mind's omnipresence is one of the first steps in the emancipation of mortals from the tyranny of material sense. For whenever this truth dawns upon human consciousness, the erroneous nature of the physical senses becomes apparent, and freedom from their domination becomes possible.

Mind, then, is omnipresent—Mind, which expresses itself in spiritual ideas. In other words, infinite Mind and its infinite ideas are everywhere. It fills us with wonder to contemplate this fact. May we endeavor to understand it, for it is of great importance. Perhaps an illustration may help to make its meaning plain. Take the idea, two times three are six! Where is this idea, this truth, to be found? Everywhere. This being so, we can make use of it wherever we are, and whenever we desire to do so. It is similar with all true ideas: since divine Mind is omnipresent, they are omnipresent; hence, always available.
