[Written for the Sentinel]

The Gift

Dear , I would come
Bringing you the heart's most precious thing,
That only God could give to me for you.
It would be delicate and white
Like lily-of-the-valley bells,
Gentle, as touch of twilight,
And luminous as stars.
Knowest thou what this gift's name would be?
Purity of heart!
A thing so gently luminous,
So simple, crystal clear,
Yet so maintained by law,
That all the place about would shine with love!
