Christian Science came to me as an angel with healing...
Christian Science came to me as an angel with healing in its wings. For three years I suffered constantly from pains in the head. I went from one physician to another, specialists of many kinds, twelve in all, but they could not diagnose my case correctly or help me. I was sent to a sanitarium, but came home no better. At this time my sister, then a nurse in a hospital, went with some of the other nurses, just out of curiosity, to a Christian Science Wednesday evening testimony meeting. Here they saw, at the organ, a young woman who a few months before had been at the hospital and after several operations had been sent home to die. After the meeting my sister, who had been the nurse on the case, asked about this healing and was told it had been brought about through the study of Christian Science.
Because of this healing, which seemed almost a miracle, I was persuaded to go to a practitioner. In a few weeks I was well, and not only free from pain but freed from much selfishness, irritation, and impatience. So not only was I blessed, but this conquering of self made all in my home happier. My sister soon followed me in the footsteps of Truth, and for several years has been a Christian Science nurse.
No expression of gratitude can be sufficient to say what the understanding of the truth has meant to me for many years. It has been my greatest asset as a wife and mother, teaching me to "live to love" as Mrs. Eddy tells us to do on page 127 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany." And in no other way can I truly express the gratitude I feel for all her teachings. It is my desire to help others as I have been helped, to heal the sick and uplift mankind.—(Mrs.) Mae S. Mann, New York, New York.
