Mrs. Eddy says on page 1 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Desire is prayer." Christian Science came to me as a direct answer to my desire for spiritual enlightenment and peace.

After a year's membership in an orthodox church and much reading of the Bible, I found that still there was a great void in my consciousness. One evening my yearning seemed so great that I resolved I should never rest until I had found the "pearl of great price." With that thought a great sense of peace and confidence came to me and a voice seemed to say that with obedience and humility I would find what I so much desired. About a month later I was brought into daily contact with a student of Christian Science who saw my need and wisely explained the reason for his hope. At once I saw that here was the light which had been promised to me, and I accepted it without reservation.

In the past ten years I have had many benefits. I have been healed of boils, colds, constipation, headache, fever, and sleeplessness. A tendency to worry, a sense of timidity, self-consciousness, and doubt—all are yielding to the understanding of this Science of Life. For enlarged opportunities, for a greater sense of freedom from human limitations, for more unselfishness, I am grateful beyond words. During an examination recently undertaken, the reading of an article in The Christian Science Journal so lifted my thought that much better results were obtained than in previous similar experiences. In my every circumstance Christian Science is having its leavening influence, and my earnest prayer is for growth in grace and understanding so that I too may give this precious truth to others.
