The Simplicity of Christian Science
SIMPLICITY is one of the many qualities the expression of which is an important factor in healing the sick or reforming the sinner. Childlike faith in and simple obedience to the teaching of Christian Science are vitally necessary to the demonstration of its healing Principle.
Believing Christian Science to be complex and abstract, many perhaps do not realize how simple is the practical application of its rules. However, a careful study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, reveals to the earnest seeker that it is not mere erudition or learning, but an attitude of meek, childlike receptivity which is requisite for an understanding of the Science of being.
"To mortal sense Christian Science seems abstract," writes Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 459), "but the process is simple and the results are sure if the Science is understood." There is nothing complex or obscure in a plain statement of the truth about God and man; and the healing power of such a statement is provable. Thought inspired by divine Science knows no defeat, for it destroys the belief that there is a power opposed to God.
