My attention has been called to your editorial of November 27, and I note that you mention Christian Science as purporting to heal "through the power of the mind over the body."

When speaking of "the power of mind over body," the average person is thinking of the so-called mind of mortals. This mind, being erring and mortal, ignorant of itself and what it produces, is, as Christian Science teaches, responsible for all the inharmonies of human experience, and by its very nature is incapable of healing the ills of which it itself appears to be the cause. The opposite of this imperfect, changeable, so-called mind of mortals in the Mind which is God—infinite, unerring, and unchangeable good—He whom the prophet Habakkuk says is "of purer eyes than to behold evil," and whose power is always exerted for good.

To possess the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" is to have that Christian state of mind which automatically dispels consciousness of disease or other inharmonious conditions. It is the divine Mind (spelled with a capital "M") which is the healer in all cases of healing in Christian Science, and the so-called human mind is not a factor in this redemptive work. The blessings which go hand in hand with the enlightened spiritual understanding resulting from the study and practice of Christian Science, will be more readily seen and acknowledged as the sick and sinning learn how ever present and how ever available God is, and how this understanding of Him can be applied to solve the problems that beset human existence.
