Among the Churches

Current Notes

York, England (First Church). — Another addition to the constantly growing number of Christian Science churches has recently been completed. First Church of Christ, Scientist, York, has now its own church edifice situated in Kilburn Road, Fulford Road, York. This building will ultimately be used for Sunday school purposes only. It consists of an auditorium on the ground floor, having a seating capacity of approximately one hundred and sixty persons, and of cloak rooms and Reader's room. The first floor consits of a Sunday school assembly hall and eight classrooms. The vestibule, cloak rooms, and corridors are laid with marble mosaic flooring. The walls are built of local bricks and faced with handmade sand-faced bricks, with dressings of reconstructed stone. The internal woodwork is largely of oak, and the building is well finished. Externally the building has been designed to harmonize as far as possible with its surroundings; and while the elevations strike a somewhat modern note, the general effect is restful and suitable for its purpose.—York Star.
