I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing, but became interested through the spiritual uplift my wife received from weekly visits to a faithful and loving Christian Science practitioner. After each visit she would tell me what the practitioner had explained to her, and I became so interested that I started going to church, studying the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly every day, and reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. In a very short time I was healed of the liquor habit of thirty-five years' standing. This was such a wonderful realization of the truth that I began to study more and more.

A short time after this healing I was taken home from work with a case of acute appendicitis. The same loving practitioner was called and I received instant relief, but there was fear on my part and next morning she was called again. Once more I received relief, and also at the same time I had an instantaneous healing of the cigarette habit, which I had had for thirty-seven years. During the last twenty years of the habit I was smoking thirty to fifty cigarettes a day, even getting up in the middle of the night to smoke and also smoking the first thing in the morning. When I realized I had lost the desire to smoke, my gratitude was beyond measure.

Through the loving and faithful work of the practitioner night and day, I received my healing of the acute appendicitis in a very short time.
