It is a deep sense of gratitude for many proofs of God's presence and power that prompts me to send this testimony. I was attracted to Christian Science by the happy, joyous throngs that crowd our church edifices at almost all our services. After attending a Sunday service I was invited to attend a lecture. The lecture gave such a clear, concise explanation of God and of man's relationship to Him also of heaven, that it created in me a great desire to know more of this truth. Sixteen happy years have since elapsed, during which Christian Science has met my every need. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in her Message to The Mother Church for 1900 (p. 6): "That Christian Science is the Science of God is proven when, in the degree that you accept it, understand and practise it, you are made better physically, morally, and spiritually."
I should like to mention one of many beautiful healings. For many years I had been afflicted with a sore throat from the first cold spell in the fall through the entire winter. I never was without some sort of medicine for the throat. A few months after taking up the study of Christian Science I was confronted with a very severe case of tonsillitis. It was the first time I had had to decide whether I should rely on metaphysics or go back to materia medica. I thank God for His divine guidance. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and a complete healing realized in two treatments. To me the outstanding feature of this demonstration is that I have never had a return of throat trouble. I have also been healed of ptomaine poisoning, hay fever, neuritis, fear, and many other discordant conditions that accompany wrong thinking.
I am truly grateful to our beloved Leader for her wonderful vision of the healing, saving Christ which she has given mankind. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for The Christian Science Board of Lectureship and for the many activities established by Mrs. Eddy.
