After reading through the inspiring report of an Annual...
After reading through the inspiring report of an Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, I was filled with gratitude for the privilege of being a member of this church. Then I began to ask myself a few questions: Am I as keenly interested in all the activities of The Mother Church as I am in those of the branch church of which I am a member? Am I giving all the support I can mentally, financially, and spiritually? How grateful I was, after searching my thought, for a greater unfoldment of what The Mother Church stands for, for a greater appreciation of its activities, and for a greater desire to share with the Field my testimony as to the wonderful Comforter which Christian Science has been to me for many years.
Some twenty-six years ago, a friend was instantaneously healed by Christian Science treatment of what the doctors had diagnosed as spinal and brain trouble, and was raised from a useless life of suffering to one of usefulness and health. I felt that here was a body of people who had found out enough about the teachings of Christ Jesus to enable them to accomplish the works he said should be done by his followers.
I bought a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and commenced to study it. My three children were constantly ailing, and I was very full of fear for them. As I discerned even a little of the truth in that book I applied it, and thereby proved that Christian Science heals, and that it heals in the same way in which the Master healed. I am so grateful for the revelation of God's allness and the consequent unreality of evil, because I had found out that fighting evil as a reality was fighting "as one that beateth the air." Christian Science shows one how to overcome fear.
