Several years have passed since our elder son was healed by Christian Science treatment of a severe nervous trouble. Before the healing, it appeared necessary to take him out of school the last half of the year and keep him constantly under the care of a physician. Although I had attended the Christian Science church frequently for the spiritual uplifting that came to me, I had never considered the possibility of our son's being healed through Christian Science treatment. Finally, when summer came, the physician left town. The boy was apparently no better than he had been six months before.

Then in our extremity my husband and I decided to call on a Christian Science practitioner. On the way home after the first visit to this dear woman I felt a remarkable change come over me and saw it in the boy. Within two or three days, friends who knew nothing of the treatments being given spoke of the boy's marked improvement. He entered school the following month, perfectly normal, and his attendance has been exceptional ever since. This healing came about while he was in the third grade, and he has just finished his third year in high school. I am most grateful for this proof of God's ever-presence.

Four summers ago, while at a camp for boys, this same boy was taken quite ill with a condition that was prevalent at the camp at the time. When the physician in charge discovered that he was ill and wished to give him some medicine, the boy said he was a Christian Scientist and would rather not take the dose prepared. As I was staying but a few miles from the camp, the doctor decided that the best thing to do would be to bring him to me, which he did. He told me that he was a sick boy with a high fever, which would continue for three or four days, and that it would be at least a week before he could be out again. After thanking the doctor for his kindness in bringing the boy home, I put the lad to bed and gave him a Sentinel and asked him to read the testimonies of healing. After calling on the only other Christian Scientist for miles around to help me overcome the fear I appeared to have, I sat down with my books and started to get out the Lesson-Sermon for the week. In the Lesson was Jehoshaphat's prayer (II Chron. 20:6-12) and the prophecy of Jahaziel (II Chron. 20:15-17). With the help being given by the Christian Science practitioner and the wonderful passages of affirmation from the Bible, I lost all sense of fear. Shortly afterward I went into the boy's room and found him asleep, and the high temperature completely gone. The next morning I was awakened by the sound of a boy's laughter outside my window. Upon looking out I discovered the lad riding his bicycle and having a most happy time. The only trace left of the illness of the night before was a cough. After two days the cough had gone, and he was in every way normal. For this healing and protection I am deeply grateful.
