The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

OSLO, NORWAY (First Church).

Lecturer: Bliss Knapp; introduced by Miss Helga I. Willoch, who said:—

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." This hunger and thirst after righteousness induces us to seek God, Truth; to seek something which stands firm, which does not change in the difficulties of life, something which can master these difficulties. God, who has given us the promise contained in this Scripture, has in Christian Science revealed the truth, given the Comforter, which Christ Jesus said the Father would send in his name.

Christian Science makes the truth of the Bible available through spiritual interpretation and revelation of the law of Love underlying the wonderful works of the prophets and of Christ Jesus. It teaches us that every man through earnest study and constant application can obtain the results which Christ Jesus promised to them that believe in him. It heals sickness, destroys sin, and helps us in all the difficulties of life in the degree in which we believe, understand, and live up to its inspired teaching. Thus Christian Science is proving itself to be scientific, to be the spirit of Truth that makes free.
