Signs of the Times
[Rev. Fred W. Church, in the Binghamton Press, New York]
Moral and spiritual life is built upon laws, perhaps not as generally accepted as the laws of creation or of society, but none the less real. The Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule, and such statements contain the laws of moral and spiritual life. Experiment with them? If you take the consequences of experimentation. But, in the language of Paul, "Yet shew I unto you a more excellent way." Try them. Prove them not by seeing how they will work if violated; but prove how they will work by keeping them. The greatest fullness of life in any of its departments will come as we apply the laws already discovered.
