For a long time it has been my desire to express gratitude for Christian Science and what it has done for me. It is about ten years since I learned that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." The doctors claimed that I was suffering from an incurable disease called cancer of the stomach. I had the services of five physicians, but was gradually growing weaker. When first becoming ill, I weighed about one hundred and thirty pounds, and in six weeks had lost sixty pounds. After I had spent four weeks in bed, the doctor urged me to get up and go out into the air and sunshine. The next time he called I was up, and he advised that we call at his office for medicine. The second time my husband called he was told by the doctor that I would not be with the family very long.

We then called in another physician, a specialist. One evening after an alarming experience we called him and after a very thorough examination it was decided to put me on a strict diet of milk. I never cared for milk, but was willing to try it if it would do me any good. After dieting for two weeks, I had another severe spell. The doctor was called but would not respond, saying there was no need for him to come because he could do nothing for me; that I could not get well. He was then asked what he thought about Christian Science. He stated that he never either recommended or condemned it, but would be glad if I found something that would help me. That same day a Christian Science practitioner was called and arrangements were made for treatment. This was on a Thursday, and on the Saturday following I was able to go to his office. I began to improve after the first treatment and have never had another attack. I was also healed of a goiter which had become very prominent.

Truly, I am grateful for Christian Science; for the loving help of practitioners; and for a better understanding of the Bible, which had always been a mystery to me. Although I am not a member of a Christian Science church, I am deeply grateful for the privilege of attending its services. I am grateful to God, the Giver of all good; and I most sincerely appreciate the kindness and love of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in giving to the world our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which indeed unlocks the treasures of the Bible.
