The Kingdom in Thought

"Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good," writes Mrs. Eddy on page 393 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Her words indicate that in consciousness we must rise from a material to a spiritual basis of thinking.

Very early in the study of Christian Science we learn that every experience which comes to us is the result of our thinking. How necessary, then, to purify and clarify thought if we are to experience the full fruitage of heavenly harmony here; for did not Christ Jesus say, "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you"?

We may not change our methods of thinking instantaneously; but hour by hour and day by day we can strive to think constructive thoughts which build up the truth in consciousness, thus revealing the real man, seemingly obscured through wrong thinking. We can begin in no better way to think rightly than to follow Mrs. Eddy's appeal in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 210), "Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them."
