Overcoming Trials and Tribulations
"When obstacles and trials seem
Like prison walls to be,
I do the little I can do,
And leave the rest to Thee."
The above words from one of the hymns sung in Christian Science churches may bring to thought the many trials that seem to appear on the journey from sense to Soul; and they have been helpful to many when burdens have seemed heavy. In pondering these lines, we may find it helpful to consider the meaning of "trial." According to a dictionary, a trial is a "test of virtue by suffering or temptation; state of being tried; proof." Then, is not a trial a test of our faith, an opportunity for making practical what we know about God, good; for doing the little we can do? With firm allegiance to this good, we see that God's work is finished and is perfect.
