Our family became interested in Christian Science more...
Our family became interested in Christian Science more than twenty-one years ago; and during this time we have had many proofs of the ever-presence of God and His power, as we are taught to know them through the works of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. During these years, we have experienced many kinds of healing through the truth which Jesus said would make us free. Words cannot express my gratitude to our Leader; for through the study of the Bible and of her book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I realized my first healing.
I had been searching for over ten years, without any results, for relief from what the doctors called a nervous breakdown, and I found my healing through Christian Science. This healing was not instantaneous; and I am glad it was not, for this taught me at the very beginning of my study that there was work to be done in casting out all thoughts that hindered progress. It was told me that "God is no respecter of persons;" and with a desire to know more about God as All-in-all, and how He supplies all our needs through scientific thinking, I have been able to work out the answer to all of my problems.
Another healing took place, of the effects of a fall. The flesh was badly gashed and bruised, and the wounds were bleeding. I felt so ill that I fainted. As I became unconscious these words of Jesus came to me: "The flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." In a short time I arose, and found I was very much better. The sick feeling had gone, the bleeding had stopped, and the wounds gave me no further trouble. This to me was a helpful and happy experience.
