Letters from the Field

[From a Report of the Christian Science Prison Committee for the State of New York]

During the past three months [January-March] the work of the Committee has progressed in a gratifying manner. Regular Christian Science services are conducted each Sunday in the following six state institutions, and in most of these a monthly testimony meeting is also held: Auburn Prison for Men, Auburn; Auburn Prison for Women, Auburn; Clinton Prison, Dannemora; Great Meadow Prison, Comstock; Sing Sing Prison, Ossining; New York State Reformatory, Elmira.

First and Second Readers are appointed for a term of three years for each of these institutions. The duties of the First Readers, in addition to conducting the services, include visiting the prison one day each week to talk with inmates who desire to know more about Christian Science, and giving spiritual aid to those who ask for treatment.
