It is with deepest gratitude that I write this testimony of healing. We came into Christian Science because we wanted to know and understand God and His laws, and also for the healing of a daughter, ten years old, who had been afflicted all her life with a so-called incurable disease. This healing came instantaneously; but after a few months a relapse occurred, and it took almost two years of faithful study and much cleansing of thought before the healing was again complete. She has been perfectly well and strong for nine or ten years. This healing brought many blessings and much spiritual growth.
Many other healings have come. Our family of eight, including two grandchildren, rely entirely upon God for healing. We are never even tempted by a drug or material means for healing. We have proved that the truth as taught in Christian Science prevents illness and discord, as in the case of a little son who has missed only two half days of school in five years; also in the case of the birth of our youngest grandchild, which was practically without pain, the strength manifested afterwards by the mother being marvelous. I was instantaneously healed of discord and suffering from a floating kidney, after many years. In fact, before I came into Christian Science surgeons had told me that even an operation would not help, as it would very likely result in a worse condition.
The change in thinking that came with this healing was beautiful to me, and I am grateful indeed to tell of it. I am happy beyond words to serve God in His vineyard, to be able to help lift humanity's thought toward Him and His goodness. I thank God daily and hourly for the many channels through which good is flowing out to the world—our church services, our periodicals, our wonderful Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, our lectures, and our Reading Rooms. My gratitude is boundless for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the privilege of class instruction, all of which are avenues of growth wisely and lovingly provided by our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—(Mrs.) Bess Bassett, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
