About fifteen years ago a friend presented me with a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, suggesting that if I studied it and asked a practitioner for help I would soon be out of the discordant conditions that were annoying me at the time. Not long after I had started the study of Christian Science a very painful sore manifested itself on my tongue. This was diagnosed as cancer by a New York physician, and I was informed of the treatment that would be given—an operation and radium—if I resorted to medical treatment for help. I told the physician that I was satisfied that Christian Science would heal me; to which the physicians replied, "Then stick to it." I was healed in a few months, and at the same time was healed of sick headaches. I had suffered from these headaches frequently since the age of a few years. Partial deafness was also healed at that time.

For these and many other blessings that I have received through the teachings of Christian Science, I am deeply grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, to Mrs. Eddy, our revered Leader, and to the practitioner who so lovingly and patiently helped me out of bondage. I hope and pray that by right thinking and right living I shall prove myself worthy of the name "Christian Scientist."
