Words fail me to express my gratitude for Christian Science. This beautiful teaching was brought to me by my son, who had suffered from bronchial asthma for over fourteen years. My husband and I had always prayed for him to be healed of this complaint, but as our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says on page 182 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Mortals entreat the divine Mind to heal the sick, and forthwith shut out the aid of Mind by using material means, thus working against themselves and their prayers and denying man's God-given ability to demonstrate Mind's sacred power." We had so many "other gods" that the omnipotence of the one God seemed beyond our comprehension. Our doctor was very kind at all times, and did everything he possibly could, but to no purpose, his final verdict being that the boy would never be in a fit state of health to earn his own living.

We were in despair, the boy being very ill, when the doctor advised that he be taken away from the country place where we lived to a smoky town for possible benefit. His father took him to our relatives in a north of England industrial town. These relatives had meanwhile found Christian Science, and with their help and that of a loving practitioner my son was able to return home alone in a week's time healed. About ten years have passed and the healing remains perfect, my son having worked regularly on the railroad line for practically the whole of this period.
