Before being interested in Christian Science I had lived...

Before being interested in Christian Science I had lived for a number of years in the mountains in a good many different places, and in some of them I was very lonely. I used to call them God-forsaken places, but after taking up the study of Christian Science I found that this was spoken in ignorance of God, since He is everywhere. I have always loved the mountains, but much more since knowing something of Christian Science. The great peaks express power and majesty; the trees and flowers express peace and harmony; the little streams, clear as crystal, express activity as they rush onward towards the valleys to fulfill their purpose. There are a great many beautiful passages in the Bible in reference to mountains, and we can all go into the beautiful mountains of exalted thought and find rest.

We often receive blessings when we least expect them. About a year after coming into Christian Science I had occasion to go again into the mountains. My nearest neighbors were about two miles away, and as they were not interested in Christian Science I did not expect to find anyone to talk to on the subject; but when I arrived at their camp on the way in I found a stranger there, who was interested, and we used to meet every Sunday and read the Lesson-Sermon and talk about what God had done for us through the study of Christian Science. We became very good friends, and he was there as long as I was.

I should also like to express my gratitude for physical healings that have come to me through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: I have been healed of sick headaches and indigestion.
