I respectfully ask space for some remarks answering the article on Christian Science which appeared in a recent issue of your newspaper. We follow the advice given by the writer and leave philosophy when the subject is religion. When it is said that Christian Scientists do not believe in a personal God, it can only be answered that they in this as in all points adhere to the teaching of the Bible. The Bible teaches that "God is a Spirit." Therefore God cannot be limited by any form whatsoever. He is everywhere present, is All-in-all. He is the creator of all; and we pray to Him as the Father of all, and find that He is "a very present help in trouble."

When Christian Science teaches that evil has no reality, this is based on the fact that evil cannot be created by God; and as God created all, evil can have no reality, no entity. Only that which is created by God can have reality, can be eternal. Christian Science reveals that material existence is a dream-existence from which we must awaken, and evil often seems very real in this mortal dream. By following the teachings of the Bible in daily life and by gaining the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," we shall, little by little, awake from the dream. As we read in Psalms: "As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness." The knowledge that the real man is God's image and likeness, as taught by Christian Science, is the truth that brings healing from sin and sickness now as in Jesus' time—the truth that "shall make you free." It is the divine Principle of Jesus' healings that was discovered by Mrs. Eddy.
