When in the very depths of the "Slough of Despond,"...

When in the very depths of the "Slough of Despond," caused by ill health, I learned of Christian Science through a friend, who had but a short time before been led to this truth. After reading some copies of the Christian Science Sentinel which she gave me, I felt comforted; and I have since realized that right then I began to think differently. Finally, I decided to seek help of a practitioner. A visit to the practitioner led me to attend the church services; and while reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy I was able to lay aside glasses which I had worn for several years. This healing, as well as other physical improvement, greatly impressed me. I remember saying to another member of the family, "The way is pointed out to me, and I am going to follow it." I shall always be grateful for this resolve.

At the time when our only son passed on we were upheld and comforted beyond human comprehension. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel toward our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for Science and Health, which has helped me to gain some understanding of the Bible and of divine truth. I have been healed of lung trouble and extreme fear of what it might develop into; of hay fever, a chronic throat trouble, sick headaches, influenza, colds, sprained ankle, a very painful sinus trouble, chapped hands, burns, bruises, as well as other inharmonious conditions. For one healing I am especially grateful. Twelve years ago I was operated upon for a trouble which two physicians said would require another operation; but through the overcoming of different phases of wrong thinking I have become a healthy, happy woman, instead of a sickly morbid one. Our daughter was healed of a very severe attack of quinsy. This seemed rather slow in yielding, but through the experience we learned to be more patient.

We are grateful for the many instances of protection experienced when accidents seemed imminent. I feel that there is still much to be overcome, but can see more clearly that only as the allness of God, good, is grasped, can the nothingness of error be realized. I am deeply grateful to the practitioners who have so lovingly helped me along the way. I am grateful to our Way-shower, Christ Jesus; and my desire is that I may be worthy to be called the child of our Father-Mother, God.—(Mrs.) Margaret E. Rankin, Akron, Ohio.
